Turning Point of My Life

Succeed or fail?
As per previous entry…
Since June… I have been
Considering a change of career
And now I have decided..

My official last day of work
At 1-Stop is 17th July 2009.
Actually its next Friday.

By then I hope I already passed
All my 3 exams papers
And officially take the role
Of Great Eastern Life Planner
Full time commitment…

My current plan is to continue
My studies in UniSIM…
While studying, I commit full
Time as a life planner.
If everything works out great,
This will be my permanent job

If its doesn’t, then by the time
I finish my degree in finance
I will reconsider my career path

Of cos, I hope everything works
Out great la.. I don’t like office job
Hahas… be around people and be
In a job / career I LOVE~
That’s for my plans…

Reaction from family
My dad is very supportive. He respects
My decision but he Is abit worried
About me staying out late and drinking
I guess.. no choice bah..

And my dad advise is to learn from bao
Qing jiejie.. my relative. She is Toyota
Top seller for cars.. and she got a very
Wide and good network of friends.
So yup.. I will figure out along that line.

As for my mummy, she only commented
Sell insurance very difficult wors..

As for my brother, he is not very supportive
Of the idea. Hahas… quite negative abt it.
As for my little sister.. she is surprised
And my little brother.. no comments.. -.-

Overall.. I got full support from my family
And I really treasure that a lot.
You all are the source of my energy
And courage. I will try my best!

Reaction from colleagues:
My boss super negative about it.
He rather I become a property agent.
And he say I am not very sales-oriented
Ask me not to waste time on that..

My supervisor half support half no..
Sit on the fence hahas.. initially
He support then unsure about it..
Mainly reason is my friends network
Not good enough.. and I too quiet.

The others not much comments..

I am not into the pushy kind of pressuring
People to buy from me. cause I
Personally hate ppl to pressure me to buy
Stuff.. the help I need from you guys
Is REASONS FOR REJECTIONS
So I can understand better how people
At our age think about insurance.

Personally, I really think insurance is
Very important which Is why I bought
Mine insurance from prudential since
Last year.. so I need to find out what
Are the reasons that stops you guys
From purchasing insurance.

Then I can better comprehend and
Convincing other people to buy from
Me and prepare myself for those
Questions that they might ask.

Haha.. anyway I hope you guys
Don’t mind helping me out at the
Initial stage of my career. :D

And no matter what,
I still love and treasure u guys A LOT!

Main Problems I will face:

Too quiet with strangers
This I got to and want to overcome.
I believe the 3 month training will help
And always be sub consciously active
And talking to people..
This is one thing I want to change about
Myself even b4 deciding to go into this
Insurance industry. =D

No Wide Network
Need to brush up and re-contact friends
From ex schools and workplace..
I definitely need to look into the
Cold market. And I admit my network
Is small. But I love to make friends
So why not take this opportunity to
Make every single client my friend?

I always believe great service
And the word of mouth will help me
Through this problem. =D

Lack of Knowledge
I am still at the very beginning stage
Have yet to gone through training.
And I need to know & study more
about the policies and insurance that
Great eastern offers. So I can make
Good recommendation according to
Individual needs. =D

For now…
I can only think of these problems.

Why I choose to be life planner?

Most importantly is because of the
Flexible working hours which allows
Me to manage my own time and
Activities instead of office jobs
Where I have to stick to the rigid
Working hours. Some even need to
Do OT and see boss black face.

I am quite family oriented. So I hope
In future I can spend more time with
My parents and even go for holidays
With them. Of cos initial stage I will
Be very busy.

Secondly, being a life planner got
potential to make even more money
As compared to salaried jobs.
But of cos also got the potential
To have only high expenses &
without Or little income…

Thirdly, I believe that insurance
Is a necessity not a luxury item
And it provides protection from
Financial burden. I want to help.

Insurance is all about LOVE..
I love my clients by recommending
the best plans or Policies that is
most suitable for them as well as
making sure it meet their needs.
And clients buy insurance is because
They LOVE themselves & their family!

Eventually everyone will buy insurance
It is just a question of why we start buying
Which I suppose we will purchase
Once we started to work and get salary

There is car insurance, property insurance
As life goes on… insurance for wife,
Insurance for children. Making retirement
Plans.. investments plans at the very least
Is to beat the inflation rate.

For my prudential plan.. I contribute a fixed
Amount every month to buy funds and equities.
In a long term.. its safer. And a million times
Better than you keep the bank in the bank
And my money keep depreciating very year
Due to inflation~ DUH..

Fourth! Know more friends by meeting more
People! As well as widen own network.

Why I join Great Eastern (GE)?
A company will have a lot of teams
The one I am joining is the group
Call advisor clique. The top sales
Production group in Great Eastern.

Advisor clique is like a family
Everyone is helping one another
They have strong team work and
Group bonding. All very friendly
Yet between groups, they are very
Competitive. Lots of laughter & jokes

It is also more management oriented
Rather than most insurance companies
Its sales orientated..

Initially, yes.. Focus more on sales and
Meeting the sales target.
Then get promoted to manager
And handle both personal sales and also
Manage own team aka group sales..
Its more fun working in a group
Isn’t it?

Haha… wah today is a long long post
Tonight going to study
Friday going out with pearlyn
Weekends no plans yet…

I want to have another class gathering
Someday. Maybe at my condo bahs..
Shall arrange soon~ best b4 school
Starts hahas…

Yeah.. flying to shanghai next week
Looking forward to it..
